WHC Fantasy League

Intro

It’s been a few years since we had the last WHC fantasy hockey running, so season 2009/10 is time for a return. It’s £5 to enter, which will be split between the club, Chestnut Tree House and the prize pool. Confirmation of 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd prize will be made once final entry numbers are known. The winner will be the manager who has selected the XI that has accumulated the most points over the season. You choose your XI from the attached player list, which has all the WHC talent available to you, although you must stick to your generous £50m budget.

The Basics

You pick 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 forwards from the player list. Your players will score points for you in LEAGUE GAMES only across the season, based on the scoring system below. There is no opportunity for transfers, so make sure you pick wisely and focus on those with stamina to last the whole season! Player prices have been set on the basis of their potential scoring ability in this game (rather than their actual ability as an individual), however there are bound to be some misjudgements in this, so it’s down to you to spot the bargains! No correspondence will be entered into with players aggrieved at their perceived value!

Entries need to be in by Wednesday 30^th September 2009.

Points Scoring

+3 for a league win                                           +4 for appearing in a league match

+1 for a draw                                                   -1 for every goal conceded

+3 for a goal

+2 for an assist *

-2 for a yellow card

-10 for a red card

* An assist is deemed as the attacking player who provided the final touch before the goal scorer applied the finish, or the player who won the short corner or penalty stroke that gets converted. Note: For short corner you could have 2 assists awarded, one for winning it, the 2^nd for a stick stop or switch pass. One player cannot be credited with 2 assists for the same goal, or an assist for a goal that the same player has scored.

IMPORTANT: Points won’t be credited if the fantasy league organiser doesn’t receive the match information. All teams need to nominate someone to email: daveedmondson_uk@yahoo.co.uk by 12pm on a Monday with details of: Score, Squad List, goal scorers, assists, cards.

If details aren’t received by that deadline, then the points will be lost. An update can then go up onto the club website in good time on a Monday.
