Match Report(s)

This top of the table clash was always going to be a tough match and the quality of hockey by both teams was excellent. The first quarter was evenly matched with the Tigers unlucky not to go one up with a goal mouth scramble, but equally relying on some great work by Conor Alam in goal to keep Lewes out.A fine build up and exceptional work by Adam Ball saw Charles McCall finish in style and give the Tigers a slim lead.Lewes immediately applied sustained pressure and with minuets to half time earned a short corner which was well taken and took them in 1-1.The second half was dominated by Worthing in the early stages before the two Lewes adults started to dictate their counter attack and the game was moving at a fantastic pace when......the receptionst turned the floodlights off!!!! As a  gesture of goodwill Tigers agreed to wait the 15 mins required to re-light but the game did become a bit fragmented when play resumed and to cap it all the extremely good Lewes umpires missed a very blatant foot by the Lewes adult which ended in the deciding goal!! The lads can be very proud of there performance today and a special thank you to our Aussie for the day Grant who was superb with the lads, even giving up a nights drinking in london for us(are we sure he's Australian!!!!!!).
