With three Wolves making their debut for the Tigers it was uncertain how things would pan out but early nerves were soon settled with a rare Nathan Jenkins long rang effort from the top of the D which fooled the Brighton defence with its velocity and just managed to limp over the line.Tom Gurney slotted into the right mid role as if he had been there all season and Joe Fowler pulled off some good saves including a spectacular stick save.Conor Dinning capped a good display with a well swept shot and 2-0 at half time. This should have been comfortable but to their credit Brighton came out hard and 2-0 became 2-1.Rather than wobbling the Tigers upped their game and after some good work by Alex Mason, Alex Minchell buried a shot with ferocious power leaving the Brighton keeper no chance and 3-1 to the Tigers. Rhys Thompson had an excellent game up front and was tireless throughout and this allowed Alex Michell to grab his second and Alex mason to also put his name on the score sheet, which was just reward for his effort in mid-field. Jack Guy was solid in defense and 5-1 was the final score. Many thanks to Ann Q for umpiring and to Peter Barter, who's tireless efforts on the pitch, and at the training ground, are invaluable in supplying the club with another crop of young players to bolster next years teams. We are indeed very lucky to have his dedication and experience which i'm sure few people could equal, or would be prepared to give their time as he has.

With three Wolves including the Keeper making their debut the manager could be forgiven for feeling nervous. However the debutantes were outstanding and all played a full part in the match.Conor Dinning settled early nerves with a well swept strike and Nathan Jenkins, reveling in a more attacking right back roll, fooled the Brighton defence with a ferocious shot that just limped over the line.Alex Minchell finished a good move down the right with a thundering shot ,matched only by his victory whoop and the Tigers went in with a comfortable 3-0 lead. That should have been the end but Brighton came at the Tigers from the start of the second half and gave Joe Fowler no chance to make it 3-1.Joe also made four excellentsaves, including a spectacular stick effort, and rather than wobbling the Tigers pushed forward with Rhys Thompson's relentless running creating the space for Alex Minchell to grab his second .Tom Gurney played at right mid as if he had been there all season and opened up the space for Alex Mason, who had run his legs off in mid-field, to score a well deserved goal.Final score 5-1 .Many thanks to Ann Q for umpiring. I know Peter Barter receives some, I'm sure good humoured, stick for 'playing down' in the Tigers but i cannot stress strongly enough, how lucky the club is to have have all the junior coaching staff and particularly somebody of his experience and understanding of the lads, who is prepared to give up so much of his time in training, and on match days, and i know i am not in a minority in appreciating this.
