1st league match nerves set in at the meet as we had played a mixed ability Brighton team 2 weeks previously in a friendly and lost.
The pre match jitters were eased however on arrival at Brighton to find their 1's team playing against chi1's including the majority of the team we had played against a fortnight ago. We were therefore playing a team we had not played against yet this season.
We almost had the full squad available this week with only our new addition Heather Vaughan, a defensive player who has joined us from Reading, missing.
The squad of 14 players meant we could roll subs on and off constantly, particularly useful with the new rules and the hot weather at the weekend.

Brighton started strong and immediately put our defence under pressure. Great defensive work by all with excellent sweeping by Kim and kirsty meant that eventually the ball made it forward for a break attack. Shelley powered the ball in past the keeper after an excellent attack from herself and Gemma.
It wasn't long before we were on the attack again, with great defensive work and attacking play from Emma and Becky as wing backs. Shelley and Gemma worked together again nicely and shelley scored again giving us a two nil lead. The pressure had turned on Brighton and before long andie had won a series of short corners, the first slotted home by toni on the post and shortly after by kirsty on a left slip.

Our 4-0 lead at half time did not see us slow down. We continued to push forward in the second half. With Jess playing well in midfield along with hannah, lucy, diva and georgia we had a series of good attacks.

Brighton kept up the pressure and Sarah had  to make a few good saves, however it wasn't long until Andie made an excellent pass to Gemma who reverse flicked it over the goalie to put us 5-0 up.

The last goal was scored in the final minute after a sub made at the 2 minute call, when toni came on for diva. Gemma made an excellent run to the baseline and made a fantastic ball to the top of the d to find toni who slotted the 6th goal home.

An excellent start to the league!
