Worthing Ladies 1st XI: 1

East Grinstead Ladies 1st XI: 1

Having only had 1 win out of our previous 5 games, team moral was at an all time low. With our hardest game of the season fast approaching, a change was definitely needed. Cirdec agreed to step in, changing our formation and attitude, with a team talk and slide-show the night before the game.

Saturday morning, an early game away at East Grinstead. Same team, different set up and new found posiive attitude – we were set to go (or at least we would be as soon as the shirts turned up – well done Diva!).

Despite a really positive start to the game with lots of pressure from us, good accurate passing, fast paced  balls and lots of calling, EG managed an early breakaway goal. We didn’t let this put us off, we came back, harder, stronger and faster to ensure an equaliser before half time. Toni won a free hit, which she took early and caught them off guard, she dribbled towards goal and crossed it in for Shelley on the left to hammer it home.

After a much needed half time breather, we came back on with the same determination to play well. EG had upped their game, scoring a second early goal, which after a controversial decision from the umpire was disallowed. As both teams tired the game became more end to end with chances for both sides. With less than 10 minutes left to play it looked like EG had the edge on us with fitness, receiving a secession of short corners. A superb effort from Sarah in goal and all of the defense, kept us at 1 all as the final whistle blew.

As usual thank you to our consistent rally of supporters on the sideline, and a massive thank you to Cirdec for his much needed input.
