Match Report: Andie

Finally, we’re back.  A relaxed, take one game at a time approach, seemed to be the attitude we needed to earn the result we richly deserve...A glorious day and a glorious result

It took a few minutes to settle into the game but once the first goal went in the rest, is what they say, is history.  Forgive me for not remembering who scored when & how, but with the score line like that it was difficult to keep track!

We continued to play our new system with some good short sharp passes, superb support play and tight control which quickly gave the team an air of confidence which, as the half progressed, visibly grew.  Taking a leaf out of the men’s ones book we used quick & intelligent passing to slot the goals home, taking the ball to the by-line and passing it back to open players and eliminating the goal keeper to boot.  Following up on the keeper’s pads along with determination from both forwards & halves alike kept the goals rolling in.

The defence also require a great deal of credit keeping the first clean sheet for a number of weeks, all borne from solid no frills defending, and even when  they were breached, Sarah was there to snuff out any chance of the Penguins opening their account. They were even awarded a flick in the second half which was easily stopped by the best flick saver in the league, although to be honest the flick wasn’t perhaps the best we have seen this year!! .

On target today were: Andie x 4, Shelley x 4, Gemma x 2, Hannah x 2 , Toni x 1, Kim x 1

Most Memorable Goal: Kim Northam, who not only made a superb run, but finished it off by roofing a goal from the top of the D

Most Memorable Dandy Ronkey Incident: Andie Chambers, for her ability to lift the ball  over the crossbar from less than 2 yards with no one around

Most Memorable Player & Man of the Match: Hannah for her consistent, strong runs, determination, and goals scored at obscure angles!

Thanks to Frambo for managing & our loyal supporters

A superb team effort
