Worthing Llamas 6               Penguins Rocks   0

As the Llamas did not have a fixture for a few weeks, Ann organised a friendly against our Worthing rivals, the Penguins. The girls had been on half term and we were perturbed that they would be sluggish, but what a match they had!

Right from the start, we attacked and spent most of the first half in their circle! I think we would have got more than 6 goals if it weren’t for their goalkeeper who had a tremendous game!

The defenders, Breanna, Sian and Gabby did very well in clearing the ball to the wings, ably supported by the sweeper, Marlies from the 3’s. We used Romey in right midfield in the first half to create chances and scoring opportunities, which were taken well by Georgia (1), Angelica (1), Nicole (2) and Catherine (2). In the second half, the play was more on the left, created by Sian, Nicole and Gabby.

Every single one of the girls played superbly, ably supported by Marlies and some others from the 3’s who rotated in and out. (Thank you Holly Allan, Lily Ross – Thomas and Georgia Pettman).

The Llamas really look like a team now and are doing well at maintaining their positions and are starting to pass the ball well.

Ian Helmer was on the sideline guiding and advising the Llamas to such an extent that we had the best team performance to date. Well done Ian – you have a job for life!!

Thanks to Ann for her goal keeping – she didn’t have much to do, but kept the ball out when under pressure.

The Llamas have a strong support crowd of mums and dads, so a big thank you to them for all their encouragement.

Let’s have a repeat performance for the next match on the 14th November.
