Horsham 1- Worthing 4

Worthing again approached this game with a must win attitude, with Horsham being what seemed like a serious potential banana skin for the away team. Worthing were missing Alex Warner and Chris Marr through injury.

The game started fairly tentatively but Worthing managed to win a short corner around 20 minutes into the first half. Craig Paterson’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper and Dan Ginnaw finished the static ball from close range to give Worthing a 1-0 lead. Worthing’s second goal came very shortly after the first when having won the ball back quickly from the restart after the first goal the midfield and attack linked up nicely to end in Ben Burris beating the goalkeeper with a hard struck finish to the top right hand corner. Craig Paterson struck Worthing’s third goal from a straight strike from a short corner, despite being a relatively straight forward save for the Horsham goalkeeper, the ball managed to bobble over him. Worthing’s fourth goal came in the second half from some nice transfer play and patience that eventually lead to some attacking link down the right culminating in a second goal for Craig Paterson in the form of a tap in.

Horsham’s solitary goal came from a Controversial penalty flick, brought on by successive short corners and eventually a supposed foul from Chris Binns.

Worthing were encouraged by this performance against a notoriously difficult to break down Horsham. Worthing’s discipline and focus yet again showed through. Worthing’s next game is BBHC at home. Another massive game for the promotion hopefuls!

Team; Chris Binns, Jimmy Pease, James Godber, Jason Collins, Matt sewell, Matt Ansell, Grant sawyer, Chris Sciandro, Dan Ginnaw(1 goal), Craig Paterson(2 goals), Rob Lowe, Cirdec Atkinson and Ben Burris(1 goal).
