A comprehensive and professional display from the 2's, saw them stretch their consecutive league victories to lucky number 7. Despite a rather hurried warm up and brief team talk, it was a really classy opening 20 mins from the away team that blew South Saxons away. We looked compact throughout the side and had the opposition squeezed in, with everyone looking very much up for it.

We look an early lead, when skipper Tedmo, broke through from right back and laid it off to Lock on the right of the D. He drew the keeper and returned the pass back to Tedmo, who in turn fed Ramiz who was loitering at the far post to walk the ball in. We kept the pressure on, and after some good work from James Cook, Lock applied the finish for the relative comfort of an early 2-0 lead. What was pleasing, is that we were straight back at them again. After some more pressure and a warm up straight strike from Tim Barter at the first short corner, it was soon 3-0 as Tim rammed the 2nd short corner home.

With a nice cushion from this opening blast, the young 2nd XI debutant, Ellis Woolley was summoned from the bench, having been playing in the Tigers from the match before. It had been intended just to use Ellis as cover, however he was straight into the game, and immediately linking well down the right hand side with Lock and Barker - so remained on for the rest of the game!

With the half-time score at 3-0, all that was asked for was more of the same and to keep some good momentum going into the crunch match next week. Inevitably there was an element of sitting back and letting Saxons come onto us, knowing that we ought to be able to pick them off on the counter attack. We probably surrendered more territory than we would have liked and credit to them that they were making a good game of it. We were thankful to our goalkeeper, Declan Luke, who made a couple of timely contributions, making sure Saxons couldn't get back in the game.

Eventually we did get that break away goal. Minchell ran straight through the heart of midfield, options everywhere, space created, allowing him to take his time and smack one home. Ramiz got his 2nd when he was picked out in space on the left of the D and placed a precise flick across the keeper into the bottom corner.

5-0 up and we were very comfortable, creating plenty of chances, but still conceding ground. Annoyingly we let Saxons in for a consolation, maybe one week we will keep a clean sheet....We did at least provide the perfect response with the goal of the game, possibly of the season so far?!? Arran Barker held possession in the right back slot, approaching their 25. He was looking for Ellis to make a run, which he duly did around the back of their defence. Arran placed a superbly weighted pass inside the full back for Ellis to latch onto. Ellis picked it up and drove into the D before firing an excellent cut back to the far side of the D. The last 2 covering defenders had been completely taken out the game, and Ramiz was on hand to sweep home first time and complete his hatrick. A move that looked so simple, but at the same time very classy. It capped a fine debut for 15 year old Ellis Woolley, another one off the Helmer production line destined for the 1st team!!

Overall a real solid display away from home, especially after a week off. Hopefully it sets us up nicely for the top of the table clash at home to South Saxons 1's.
