Worthing Men’s 5th XI            11                Chichester Cardinals            3

A game where perhaps the older and wiser of us thought that we might come unstuck.  Where we turned up to face a much older and a very experienced side who knew how to play against the ‘whippersnapper’, of which the 5th XI have a few!, how wrong we were, once again the 5th XI dined out on the buffet of their opposition!

However this game will not be remembered for the 11 goals, another 6 for Dan (does that put him ahead of Bryan yet?), another 3 for Aaron and 1 apiece for Jon and the baby of our side Luc, but for the fact that Mags played the full 70 minutes.  Although after his first touch conceded a short corner, Dan French must have wished he had started him as per usual on the bench!

As per usual disregarding the wise words of those who knew the opposition, who knew that by running straight at them we would lose the ball we sallied forth into the game.

I would love to say that I saw all the goals, the free flowing hockey that produced them, however the eyes aren’t what they used to be and everything happens far too quick these days!  However suffice it to say Messrs Lock and Chapman as per usual were right on target, Aaron seemingly slotting them in from impossible angles.

At the back the defence were steadfast, although Joe obviously bored after weeks of nothing to do, did his best to assist their opposition with some precision passing to their centre forward!, thankfully there was not enough time left in the game for him to do this often enough to make a difference!

Another win in the bag and I am sure all will agree it is down to the spirit in our side, the fact that we can laugh and joke with each other and the fact that we are enjoying it!

Many Thanks to QE for umpiring and roll on nest week!
