Worthing Men’s 5th XI 8 East Grinstead 6th XI 0

The 5th XI carried on their winning ways at the weekend with a comprehensive victory over a young East Grinstead side. EG struggled to get to Worthing with various traffic problems so the match was reduced to 30 minutes each way.
The confidence of the 5th XI is growing week on week with Aaron and Dan fighting each other for the top scorer. Returning to the side after about four weeks it was great to see the side keeping it’s shape. The confidence of John and Luke has grown with them providing great service for the forwards. Little Luc was a revelation with endless energy going forward and defending when required. Chris supported us well in the middle.
The solid back line was managed ably by Dave Lock although most of the action was at the other end with Worthing going into half time with a 3-0 lead. The final score was 8-0 with Aaron scoring four goals, Dan two and Luc and Luke one a piece. It is great to see Worthing finishing so well. We need to be careful not to become over confident. There is a tough trip to Eastbourne next Saturday. Thanks to Dave Parsons and Ben Chipperfield for umpiring.
