After a great start against our own 6's last week we were at home to the Irish this week.
We started the game in good style but came a cropper tackling 'cack'handed' players takes some getting used to and not tackling lets the opposition score: we couldn't do one which led to the other, oh well!
Things went from bad to worse when Dan Lock got a yellow for asking politely what his green was for (note to all players whether you agree or not, just smile and wave boys smile and wave)
Still, we're used to a hard game so we stepped up ours and dazzled them with our stick skills, solid defending at the back (you don't get past Dave 'The Iron Curtain' Lock without a few bumps and bruises!), sharp passing through the middle and some sniper like shooting up front we found ourselves with a good lead.
We were nearly home and dry but then young Joe received the final insult of the day when he made a stunning save then got 'Shillelagh' by their centre forward. Free hit to us? 16 yard hit, nope P flick. Never mind, we got through by the skin of our teeth so all is good.
Ann Q at the other end did a fantastic job and ensured a flowing and feisty game was enjoyed by all.
