With such a long lay off and playing one of the best teams in the league you’re never quite sure how things will turn out. However the Tigers continued where they left off at the end of last year with a superb team performance. A signature move down the right saw a fierce cross from Dalton Tessier beautifully deflected by Alex Watkins, past a very good Lewes keeper who looked shell-shocked. As you would expect from Lewes they pressed hard for an equaliser and it was end to end with both teams having chances, before a very good drag flick from a penalty corner saw the scores level at 1-1. Far from letting heads drop the tigers pressed again and the ever-reliable Alex Minchel put Tigers back into the lead at half time.
The second half saw more domination from the tigers and 2-1 quickly became 4-1 before Lewes grabbed a consolation in the last few minutes and a final score of 4-2.This was by far the most pleasing performance this season because, although there were some outstanding individual performances, such as Sam Gill at the back and Alex Watkins and Dalton Tessier up front, the whole team played superb hockey with everybody making a contribution. Many thanks to John Massie and umpires Peter Barter and Luke Helmer.
