Tigers Vs Mid Sussex Colts

Tigers had more opportunities than Mid Sussex in the early stages and three good runs and crosses down the right would have been converted on another day, but they went begging and a well drilled Mid Sussex punished them with two first half goals. This could have been worse but for some fine saves by Josh House. Four of the Tigers had helped other teams out earlier in the day and this could be why the lacked their usual energy in the middle part of the game. The second half saw a more focussed Tigers not giving the ball away so much and the pressure paid off with a clinical finish by Alex Watkins. The tempo of the game moved up a gear and is often the case probably turned on a single incident. Tigers were pushing hard into the Mid Sussex d and despite numerous desperate stick tackles, the Tigers player broke free, took aim, and slotted home the shot... at the same time as the umpire blew to award Worthing a short corner!! The resultant short corner was cleared and Mid Sussex broke away to make it three one. More shots, posts and short corners followed but it was not to be the Tigers day. To their credit they are playing most games without an adult whereas Mid Sussex rotated two. Thanks as always to Luke Helmer for umpiring.
