The early exchanges found the Tigers making good inroads into the Oxted half but a tension around and in the D saw to many chances not taken. A small but skilful Oxted side then exerted pressure and only some sharp work from Leo French and Sam Gill kept things even. As the half progressed the momentum swung in Oxteds favour and a two-goal lead was their reward. To the Tigers credit they pushed forward and Rhys Thompson worked hard to create opportunities but the Oxted keeper was in outstanding form and it took a great piece of skill from Alex Watkins to finally beat him. 2-1 at half time was less than the Tigers deserved but they were still in the game. Again second half honours were even in the early stages but Tigers started to give the ball away to often allowing Oxted to increase their lead to 4-1. Sam Gill and Alex Minchell worked hard to bring the Tigers back into things, with the Oxted umpire querying if we were playing with adults after one of Sam’s numerous runs, but again their keeper was excellent and the difference between the two sides was the calming influence of a strong adult at the back. On the positive Kieran O’Brian got stronger and stronger as the game went on and Adam Hart had a very good game.
