Worthing Wolves 1        Eastbourne Kestrels 7

Submitted By: Yolanda Hinton

Saturday’s game pushed back in drizzle which soon turned into a horrific rain and wind.  It was a good game unfortunately Wolves could not get Kestrels out of their own half. (It must have been less wet and windy there!).    Attacks on goal were stopped by Travis our new goalkeeper, unfortunately 4 balls managed to get past him. Travis however never gave up.  When Wolves did manage to get into Kestrel’s half they did so with great passing skills starting from right back through the midfield assisted and directed by both Greg and Dan on the pitch and Johnnie and Martin on the sideline.  Wesley never left his marker and made it difficult for him to pass the ball.

Second half saw Wolves more confident and having a go at goal.  Attacks were mounted on the right with Callum running up and down the pitch collecting and passing the ball until a lose ball bounced off Greg’s heel and landed against Callum’s shoulder.  Wolves were now down to 10 players and still they battled intercepting attacks on goal and mounting counter attacks.   On a couple of occasions it seemed that team effort paid off and the ball would go into the back of the net only to be saved by their keeper.

Well done for a brilliant game of hockey.  Keep playing your game and you will get there. Thanks to umpire Mike Shreeve
