Saturday’s game pushed back under an overcast sky. Things got off to a promising start with a good break 5 minutes into the game from which we nearly scored. Unfortunately, for much of the remainder of the first half, we made few attacks into the Hailsham half. Hailsham made the most of their chances and scored three times, but we carried on fighting till the half-time whistle. Special mention should go to Jack Cooper who stopped many of their attacks.

 

After a half-time pep talk from Yolanda, we came out positively and made much more progress into the Hailsham half. Kieran was moving the ball around with some good quick passes and we came close to scoring, but were denied by their keeper (an adult!!). Our opponents made fewer attacks at our end and we defended well, conceding only a single goal. Our keeper, Travis, made a brave (some might say stupid) and spectacular save with his chest, with another deflecting off his helmet, to deny Hailsham more goals.
