After an 8-0 victory last week giving us vital points we travelled to 2^nd place Chichester Cardinals who the previous week had beaten unbeaten league leaders Crawley. Worthing start well despite the barrage of little flies everywhere attracted to the Worthing shirts. Organised, man marking all necessary players passing around and pushing up the pitch time after time, Chichester getting a few attacks but being broken down by the Worthing defence and some outstanding goalkeeping from Joe Fowler. Worthing benefit this week was teamwork and Chichester spent the whole time arguing between themselves. Jon Humphreys was to get the only goal of the first half spurring Worthing on to the possibility of points. Half time 1-0.

The 2^nd half began well as before playing into the sun that had appeared making for a lovely afternoon. Worthing again dominant unable to get another to give us more of a cushion wanting all 3 points. With ten minutes to play a for once well worked attack by Chichester equalising the score to Worthing’s dismay. We wanted it more and attacked again and again giving 150%, finally winning a short corner. Jon received and slotted it home making it 2-1, all defensive for the last few minutes, pulling back the midfield almost making a double defensive line and there it was final whistle and a 2-1 victory. Still not safe for the season, but safer. Excellent work from the Juniors and thanks to Ann for umpiring
