Previous tournaments
Our summer Veteran Masters Festival was back by popular demand from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th August 2025.
Featuring touring teams from Netherlands and across the U.K., we welcomed Schoonhoven HC, Gin & Chronics, Maidens of Mayhem, Handbags, Fuel X, Landgirls and the chairman’s WHC XI.

The great hockey across Saturday and Sunday was supported by lovely food and a fantastic social atmosphere. The pizza van was supported by BBQs and the Worthing Steel Band, the wonderful bar staff who worked tirelessly to keep everyone fully hydrated !

Congratulations to all of the teams and thanks to everyone who played, supported, organised, ran the bar, umpired and made the event run smoothly – its a real team effort to make these event so successful.

The 2025 winners were Fuel X on the Mens side and Maidens of Mayhem – see you all next time !

The WHC Veteran Masters Tournament returned over the August Bank Holiday from Friday 26th August (welcome evening) to Sunday 28th August 2022 with matches on the Saturday and Sunday. 5 Mens and 5 Ladies teams from across the country played out competitive yet social matches across the 2 days.
Here is a flavour of the weekend. The Mens tournament was won by Sussex All Stars recording an unbeaten record with Yorkies finishing 2nd after a 1-1 draw with Sussex and only slipping up against Millfield OBs. On the Ladies side, Land Girls won all 4 games including a 2-1 win over Girls on Fire who finished 2nd unbeaten across their other 3 games, just edging out the Maidens of Mayhem. The matches were closely fought in a competitive yet social atmosphere with points also shared across touring teams Handbags Rock, Gin & Chronics and of course the hosting Worthing Mens and Ladies teams.

Report from 2021 Tournament
We were delighted to welcome teams from across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland to what turned out to be some very close, competitive and high skill level hockey across the 2 days, with the Mens tournament decided in the last few minutes of the last game. In a close finish, Worthing Mens Over 45s just edged out Scotland, whilst in the Ladies competition Girls on Fire from North Downs HC in Northern Ireland took the honours with Worthing finishing as runners up.

The tournament featuring Mens Over 45s Teams and Ladies Over 35s Teams was played over 2 days (Saturday & Sunday), with a maximum 16 players per squad including an umpire. Both the Mens and Ladies competitions were played in a ‘Round Robin’ format with a total of 4 matches per team. All games were 50 minutes long, with medals and trophies presented at the end of the weekend to the winners and runners up. The weekend of course also had a strong social element with a Welcome BBQ Party on the Friday, Saturday Night Dinner and Sunday Hog Roast.

Thank you to all visiting teams for coming and making the event such a success and of course a huge thank you to the organisers without whom these events cannot take place. Hopefully see you all again next year – watch this space !
