Boosted Moral and a Home Win for the Ladies 1st XI

Support from the clubhouse decking was strong and the first half of the match displayed a great mix of hockey. Using the full width of the pitch and playing three up front the Ladies in gold delivered a good attacking presence.

New and returning club players made up a strong side showing great team play with some excellent saves from both goalkeepers. Both teams had short corner opportunities but at half time the score remained 0-0.

Within the first minute of the second half, Sian took the ball in midfield and ran the line into the D and fired off a shot that delivered the first goal.

Boosted by Sian’s goal the home team turned up the pressure to increase their presence in the attacking D and after a short corner was given Michelle added to the goal scorers list to make it 2-0.

Towards the end of the second half a yellow was given to a Worthing player along with a short corner. Down to 10 players this was an opportunity for the away team who were awarded several back to back short corners, but the Worthing defence was strong and sent them back each time.

A great home game win for the Ladies 1st XI who play Burgess Hill Ladies 2s next.
