The Community Coaching Program is our new initiative for in 2020/21. It sets out to provide hockey opportunities for children between the ages of 6 -12.
Our aim is to develop the skills of local school children through school-based coaching, Holiday Hockey Camps and delivering an annual Primary Schools Hockey League. Support is provided through England Hockey, along with our developments and community backers.
The coaching is provided by Worthing Hockey Club along with Activ8 for kids, and is now managed by Rex Fuller and Debbie Webb. Debbie has over 20 years experience teaching and coaching local primary aged children. To date over 500 children have been coached through our program and we have seen a strong intake of new membership into Worthing HC, giving more of a commitment to sport and of course, to hockey.
We have also been supporting young coaches who wish to gain experience and hockey based qualifications within the community program and club.
Charity fundraising events include the Easter Mixed 7s Tournaments and Summer Golf Day. We recently raised money for Chestnut Tree House and St. Barnabas House.
