We’re proud of our Junior Section, and many of our members join through it – starting long connections with our club.
Our Junior Section is the heart and soul of our club, and is where we as a club focus a major part of our attention. We aim to provide quality coaching for all junior players, whether they are new to the game or have been playing several years. We develop our young players both on and off the pitch with a fun, exciting and vibrant atmosphere in which to play and socialise, and are proud of every single one.
Wolves Boys Under 16
Worthing Wolves competes in the U16 Boys Sussex Development League, which covers the whole of East and West Sussex with 12 competing teams. Our ambition is to provide a base to develop young players in a competitive but safe and enjoyable atmosphere. You will hear no yelling from the coaching staff (apart from when we score!), and the families / supporters are all encouraged to do just that – support! The team has always performed between half way and near the top of the table, and a lot of the current Men’s 1st and 2nd XI squads are ex Wolves players.
Wildcats Girls Under 16
The Wildcats is our new girls development team, who are building to re-enter the Girls Sussex Development League after the previous successes of Worthing Llamas who won the league in 2023. We have players from 11 to 16 years old in the squad, and have progressed hugely in a short time. The emphasis is to have fun whilst progressing skills and game play, it’s taking part that makes us improve.
Comets Mixed Under 12
This is where our school and club junior players come together. The emphasis is to have fun and enjoy our great sport without the pressures of competitive hockey. Players benefit from great coaching, and learn about our club community, and how to be a good club member.
We actively encourage our juniors’ parents to be involved, so that they feel as much a part of the club as their children. After all, without their encouragement and support we wouldn’t have the opportunity to teach their children. Training runs every Sunday morning in 2 sessions, 11am to 12 noon and 12 noon to 1pm.
Minis 5-6 years
This is where hockey begins. So making hockey fun is what it’s all about. Coaching is provided at a pace to accommodate all players, while ensuring that the children are kept safe and engaged. These truly are the club players of the future, and we hope they’ll fall in love with hockey and keep playing for many years to come. Training times: Sundays 11.00am to 12.00pm
