The cup was presented to John Herbert, Chairman of Worthing Hockey Club by Michael Acott, President of the Sussex Hockey Association at its new clubhouse on Saturday 5th October 2019.
After years of fund raising and generosity from local individuals and companies alike, the new clubhouse at The Angmering School was opened on 16th March 2019 overlooking the home astroturf, forming the cornerstone in the next chapter of club’s over 120 year history and a base for 6 Men’s Teams, 2 Ladies Teams, Veteran Teams, Mixed Teams and growing Development / Junior Sections welcoming adults and children from across the region.
With the support of the Sussex Hockey Association, the club is now actively working to attract new members of all ages to join the world of hockey through a program including coaching in schools, under 12 and under 16 teams training / playing at the weekends and development of the Men’s and Ladies teams which are all playing in competitive Sussex and Regional leagues.
To mark this historic event in its 123 years of history, the club has rebranded to reflect a modern, fresh image whilst retaining its traditional values, aiming to widen the appeal of the hockey in the local community and attract new players, adding to the nearly 250 existing members.
